Luke Senters has signed his intent to run track for Olivet University.

Senters began running track in 7th grade and although he is the first runner in his family, his younger sister followed suit and she also began to run track. His family are huge supporters and they come to all his meets and he really appreciates their support.

His favorite field event is the long jump and his favorite track event is the 1 mile. His record for running the mile is currently 4.47 and he hopes to continue to improve at Olivet and beat his record; his record for running the 800 is currently 2.09

He hopes to major in sport psychology and work with athletes on a professional level. He knows how important psychology comes into play for athletics. He has personal experience with this, when he got injured his freshman year and he had to mentally keep pushing to overcome that speed bump. He is thankful for his teammates and coaches for supporting him through that tough time and continuing to encourage him. Although running can be an individual sport, it also relies heavily on your teammates. He stated that it is very important to encourage your teammates to succeed and to keep improving.

As you can expect, running in the snow has its challenges here in Michigan. He said that although he dislikes running in the snow, he has to do it to stay on top of his training. But he did get a gym membership to make it a bit easier on those super snowy days. Senters is a well rounded student. He enjoys playing soccer at Manistee and he also enjoys music and playing the guitar. He also stated that he learned Spanish and he would love to use that to travel overseas and get to know another culture from within.

Whether Senters is traveling the world or running track at Olivet, we know he will be very successful.
