Jayna Edmondson has signed with Muskegon Community College to play basketball.

Edmondson started playing basketball in 3rd grade and it was love at first dribble. She really enjoys playing with teammates and gaining friends from the sport. All her teammates and coaches are incredibly supportive and she feels that it has contributed to her success on and off the basketball court.
She says that before each game, they hype each other up in the locker room by listening to music and just encouraging each other. She plays in 1-3 games every week during the season, along with practicing 6 days a week for about 2.5 hours.
The team also ‘Film Study” to analyze movements. They watch films of themselves to learn from their mistakes and they also watch films of the other teams to try and analyze their movements. They do this together with their team and coaches to try and improve their playing overall.
Edmondson says that the coaches give her good advice but her favorite is that they should just “play your game”. It doesn’t matter the location, who is watching, who the opponents are. Just focus on knowing your potential and have confidence in yourself.
She says that it is tough after missing a few shots to try and get in the right mindset to have the confidence to make the next shot. So she remembers the coach’s advice.
While Edmondson stays busy during basketball season, she also plays volleyball in the fall and soccer in the spring. In her spare time, she enjoys going to the beach with her friends and family.
MAPS looks forward to seeing her playing at Muskegon Community College.
